我々日本人にとって fashion と聞くと、まずは「洋服や髪型などの流行」を想像してしまう。
ところが、fashion は way(やり方）と同じ意味でよく使われる。
in the same fashion の後ろに as を加えることによって、一体何と同じなのかを表現することが可能である。
in the same fashion as ～: ～と同じやり方で
＜例文1＞
Could you confirm that he is measuring the opacity in the same fashion as (that) I described before?
訳）彼は私が以前に説明したのと同じやり方で不透過率を測定しているか確認していただけますか？
他に同じよう言い方として以下のようなものがあるので、一緒に覚えておこう。
in the same way as 〜: 〜と同じ方法で、同じように
＜例文2＞
I think (that) he probably feels in the same way as me.
訳）彼もおそらく私と同じように感じていると思います。
in the same manner as 〜: 〜と同じように
＜例文3＞
I guess (that) you should be able to make it in the same manner as before.
訳）以前と同じやり方でうまくできると思います。
このように fashion、way、manner は「やり方」という共通の意味を持っている。
これらの類義語として method （方法）もあるが、どういうわけか in the same method という言い方はあまりしない。
また、method は他の３語に比べて、おおげさな響きがあるので、使う場面は少ない。
